The only conference focusing on the intersection of content with technology – Open Password Interview

Great interview with ConTech and Info Int. MD Clive Snell on the driving force behind our unique events. “Simply the amount of information available is disrupting the information industry with ever increasing pace. The amount of content being produced is doubling every single year. By next year this will be doubling every single day. Researchers’ relationships with publishers and information professionals are shifting in parallel with the increases in content. The landscape is vastly different to how it was a few years ago. This phenomenal pace of change is raising fundamental issues that all need to be addressed so that the information world can keep pace with these ever-shifting sands.”

Open Password still sees ConTech as the most important event in the information industry. Clive Snell is Managing Director of the host Info International Ltd (London).

How has the information industry changed since the launch of ConTech and how did you respond to these changes?

Simply the amount of information available is disrupting the information industry with ever increasing pace. The amount of content being produced is doubling every single year. By next year this will be doubling every single day. Researchers’ relationships with publishers and information professionals are shifting in parallel with the increases in content. The landscape is vastly different to how it was a few years ago. This phenomenal pace of change is raising fundamental issues that all need to be addressed so that the information world can keep pace with these ever-shifting sands. Legal, ethical, commercial, strategic, business model and financial questions are crying out for answers as these new technologies disrupt the creation, dissemination and consumption of content by all the stakeholders.

ConTech offers ground breaking insights into this, the biggest technological revolution to hit the content world since the birth of the internet.

What has ConTech achieved and what would you like to achieve 2019 and in coming years?

ConTech is the only conference in the world that focuses specifically on the intersection of content with technology. A new generation of intelligent technology is transforming publishing and the world of digital content and information. Driven by data science and artificial intelligence, new tools are making publishers, content providers and information professionals smarter, faster and more attuned to the needs of their users. By tackling the impact of AI, machine learning, data science and other emerging technologies head on ConTech offers the knowledge, the contacts and experience to create a blueprint to navigate the future of the information world.

ConTech is more than just another conference; it is an independent platform that enables discussions, engages communities, shares knowledge and drives change with influencers, users and providers of information and content technologies. This year sees not only ConTech 2019 but also under the ConTech.Live banner a special summer forum in June keeping the conversations going and updating the stories from last year. The development of specific market focused events starting with Pharma and looking at Legal and other key information markets. In the future we see the recognition of ConTech as a world class “go to” face to face platform for the intersection of content and technology.

Looking at ongoing and coming trends how may ConTech change in coming years?

We plan to develop the platform keeping pace with the transformation of content through emerging tech. The technologies will change, our mission remains to create events enabling, sharing, learning and networking around the intersection of content and technology. ConTech will be the go to place for best practice case studies and will remain pioneering, landscape changing and future focused.

Our plan is to continue to develop a set of market vertical events – Pharma, Legal and so on to enable a deeper dive experience. In addition to those in the next three to five years we will launch a series of international ConTech events to explore, reflect and promote our core agenda in different settings.
